What do You Do When You're Bored and Want to Meet People? - This question has 3 answers based on the 3 cities I lived in.
Bowling Green, KY - only thing to do was hit Barnes & Noble after work. The city shopping mall was small but ok. Or grocery shop at SuperWalmart.
Houston - mostly hit the grocery store or Barnes & Noble to hang out in the cafe. I'd hit the malls on the weekend hoping to run into a pretty enough woman.
Chicago - living in Wicker Park I can take a bike ride to see people or hang around Wicker Park Park. Grocery shop or go to Barnes & Noble. Hit the malls on weekends. Can run into people when working out on Lake Shore Drive.
Otherwise I don't hang out in bars or Starbuck's. I hate beer and Starbuck's coffee is too expensive. I don't like dancing or staying up late so I often don't go to nightclubs.
I must be boring... Gimme ideas on where to meet people!
Dance lessons
Theater group
College courses
Outdoor groups
Volunteering
Cooking classes
Museums
Galleries
Zoo/Aquarium
Anything that is interactive. Book stores are not ideal since everyone has their faces buried in a book. Starbucks is not ideal either...faces buried in laptops, ipods plugged in, or already paired up with friends.
I've gone to an event like Chicago's Bike the Drive and I didn't even make one friend out of the 10,000 or so people there. So if it weren't for my mom and aunt that keep me company I'd be a lonely bored man in life. I fear my future is loneliness when I get old because I have no wife in my life...
