Alpha,

here are some sites with information on LOTR:
Finding the Lord, in 'Lord of the Rings'
Lord of the Rings: Judeo Christian Ethics and Mythos by L.A. Solinas

Some other possible moveis are Facing the Giants, maybe The legend of Baggar Vance, Happy Feet, all I can think of at the moment.

I take it Ghost Rider is out of the question . I just watched it last night and it has a good spiritual connotation to it regarding God conquering the devil and good vs bad etc. But, it may be pushing the envelope for youth .
Same thing with the movie Constantine. Has good discussion possibilities, but parents may raise eyebrows.

All I know is that we showed Nepoleon Dynomite a couple of years ago and you would have thought we had served the kids mixed drinks! Holy cow!

So, movies are VERY difficult to choose for church activities.

An older movie I love is called Wild Hearts Can't be Broken.

I am sure when I get some sleep I could think of a couple of others, but that is one I always feel confident to show in any audience and the kids seem to love it.

I know you've already met with your kids, but I thought of "A Walk to Remember" and "First Knight".

sorry, I guess I should have said, huh?

We watched Hoodwinked and then a few of the girls watched Bridge to Terabithia.

Didn't even really get into anything spiritual with either of them, just chilled and had a good time.

It was a blast.
