Yeah, he's completely deluded thanks to his christian belief and feels justified in denying equal rights to a group of US citizens, yet he'll accept their contributions to the war effort. Blacks didn't even have it this bad in the military during WWII. Back then they could still be in the military, only in all black units. Gays aren't even allowed to serve, but his comments aren't just about the military. He's talking about laws, as in for civilian life as well.

I think the Joint Chiefs Chair should spend less time talking about his personal beliefs and more time figuring out how to deal with IED's.

Wait a second!
Gays are allowed to serve...as long as they don't infringe on the rights of their fellow soldiers by openly discussing their true selves.

It takes guts to stand up for what you believe in. Especially when you know that it won't set well with many people. Say what you will, but I appreciate anyone who'll take a verbal assault for standing for what The Word says.

Alpha8207, I'd agree with you that standing up for your principals is a good thing. However, GEN Pace is the commander of an organization (the U.S. armed forces) that is run on the idea (and military regulations enforce it) that people will be treated equally without regard to sex, sexual orientation, race OR religion. GEN pace is certainly entitled to his personal beliefs. But they have NO place whatsoever at work. I personally believe that sexual orientation should not preclude one from serving in the military. (Granted there are single personnel housing and other issues to be worked out along the way) And this is a VERY short and simplistic comment on a very involved issue...
