We had a very famous Welsh rugby player, Gareth Thomas, that 'came out', the first one ever. In his autobiography 'Proud' he was talking about the moment that the team manager broke the news to his team-mates....
'I have something to tell you about Gareth boys' said Mervyn. 'He's gay.'
'Duw! That's a relief boyo.' said Barry. 'I thought you were going to say he was English!
My favorite Rugby ref, Nigel Owens, also gay, and extremely well respected both on and off the pitch.
I have YET to meet a professed Christian who does not quote the VERY SAME Leviticus text that the 'WBC inbreeds' display on their filthy banners to condemn homosexual people. Those Christians who attempt to distance themselves from the WBC are more in league with these parasites than they care to admit.
The difference, of course, is that no Christian I know of has ever stood out on the highway with a sign that reads "God hates ----" about gay people--or about any other pet sin.
God does explicitly condemn those things. And yes--we should be grieved when Christians do it. But no, it's not accomplishing much by announcing that God hates any particular group.

Well said. And so true. As a young man hanging around my peers it became clearly evident to me that it was the God-given duty of every red-blooded heterosexual male to 'jump' as many females as they could so that they could later brag about it. The more females they could claim to have 'jumped' (usually exaggerated or, more likely, totally untrue) the higher their perceived status. Things haven't changed that much today if at all. As you imply, night clubs are (mainly heterosexual) pick-up joints for one-night stands. Heterosexual obsession with sex (porn sites, prostitution, etc.) makes homosexual obsession with sex pale by comparison.
Like you, I too will not allow any Christian 'fundie' to denigrate people whose only 'sin' (the alleged 'sin' that the 'fundies' are obsessed with anyway) is that they are innately homosexual oriented. And, I will take them on by using the very same book that they use to demean gay people.
Do you think it is a GOOD thing to act so impulsively? Should we encourage it? Should we simply say "Well..that's who they are"? Should we have parades to celebrate the 20 year old sex addicts?
Let's be realistic here. We're not talking about a couple denying someone housing, employment, food or needs and services. It's a baked good. The owners were polite about it and even offered to help them find another bakery. No one should have to fear for their life and property because they didn't want to violate their beliefs.
This just shows me once again the cold intolerance shown to Christians who dare take a stand for their faith. Oh but persecution against Christians doesn't exist in America, right?
Just as I find the practice of refusing to bake cakes
for same-sex couples unacceptable, I also find the
responding with threats of violence equally unacceptable.
In fact, it will backfire and serve to undermine progress
made in eliminating bigotry in this area, if folks aren't
careful.
