Fundamentalist Christians try to believe the Bible because it has been popular for centuries. There could be some basic truth about God within some of the biblical texts.
But they want a god who gives them all the answers. They don't trust themselves. That is why they will accept this popular book as providing 100% of the answers, even though most of them don't read it, and don't seem to understand or even care about it's contents.
Christianity: God is the only God and he magically poofed into existence at the beginning of time.
Not exactly...Believing that God created space and time (a dimension as it were), God was before time. If energy can be neither created not destroyed (a definition of eternal) why can't God?
