The fact is my faith is strong,
In all seriousness, what caused you to have the faith you do have?

I

Good question. It has always been. I do not search for reasons why. I simply have this understanding.

My faith is not formed by the Bible. I do not take direction from a book written by men who excluded women's voices.

It just is.

In other words, you were born into it, and had you been born in Saudi Arabia you would have gone along with Islam, or Laos with Buddhism. We understand.

I am not sure you are familiar with RonkonkomaNative. I don't know what her spiritual outlook is, but I don't think she fits that description.

Perhaps. But it sounds to me as if he or she just went along with what he or she fell into.

Apparently you do not understand. My faith would be the same regardless of location.

I have fallen no where.

Something must have driven it.

I never was faithful. I recall the bible readings in school and sitting through catechisms, and I always thought of them as not much different than the fairy tales my mother would read to me. I'm not being facetious, as I saw little difference between a talking snake and the big bad wolf talking to Little Red Riding Hood.

Of course the horrible parts of the bible were never brought up in school. The almost murder of Abraham's son, the beating of slaves, the murder of rape victims, and the genocides, none of that was discussed. I became aware of them later. It just convinced me that what was being written was just human beings justifying their traditional actions and wrapping it in a spiritual package. It still bothers me that this is the basis for the religious fervor that many exhibit.

No. I don't understand.

I may be wrong, but if you want me and others to really understand your position (and maybe you don't, and that's all right, too), then you're going to have to explain it better. Saying, "It just is", isn't saying much.

Did you not say, we understand? You seem to speak for others as well as yourself.

I can only speak for myself. I can only tell you what is, and has always been.

God and I are old friends and that is the only explanation I have for you.

It is not a position.
