I don't believe in God, so I can't credit God, but I do believe there's Guardian Angels out there who have been looking after me most of my life. These Guardian Angels may be the result of my doing some really good for some people, over the years, and they're paying me back. Who really knows!
I still shiver sometimes just thinking if I had taken a particular route, it would have been a disaster.
Back in the day, unsure of my sexuality, I was dating someone that I came close to marrying and to think, now being happily Gay, if I had married and had children.
Crediting Angels is fine. I wouldn't have said more.
But your subject asks Who do we credit....and for avoiding disasters.
Sure, an Angel has saved my life a couple times intervened when I was lost or reminded me of an appointment...
or it could have been my Guide.
But I know who he/she works for...so my gratitude goes right to the Top...the Creator of the angel.
I say this because you asked. I sure don't care if you believe in God.
I put in that this should be moved out of Retirement , so if you see it moved later.
Dumb luck, the same dumbness that sometimes brought me into bad situations in the first place. Several times I have thought "this could have been bad" after avoiding a potential disaster, and "this could have been so much worse" in already bad situations. No guardian angel, or protective Creator, just pure random chance.
IMO, the OP can word the thread the way they choose to and they can put the thread where they feel it belongs. The retirement section seems just fine. And their idea of a "guardian angel" may not be that of a religious person's but the OP's idea of an angel may be just as valid and should be just as respected.
I suspect that we all have a broad destiny or fate in this life, it doesn't seem entirely random. You are either going to have disasters, to whatever degree, or not, just as I suspect we have a predetermined time to die. Whatever is part of your plan. Who masterminds the plan? I'm not altogether clear on that, but there does seem to be some kind of divine or at least orchestrated oversight to it all. But that's as close as I can come to making any sense out of life, like who gets and does what. Why is this guy rich and famous in L.A., and this other guy is starving to death in Africa? Is it all a matter of chance or random birthright or genetics or something else?
Beyond all that esoteric navel-gazing, I think blind luck and serendipity play a significant role in all this. I've done many things in life that could have easily resulted in disaster or death. But they didn't. Why (shrugs)? Born under a lucky star I guess...
