I have been thinking about this question for a while now, but before I ask it I want to say that I am not in any way looking to make any judgements on the answers that I get. I actually don't think I will get many answers but I ask with only the curiosity to know more about how deep a persons faith is and to what lengths they would go in the name of their religion.
I recently saw a movie called September Dawn. A few days later I caught the tail end of a documentary on Jones town. I was thinking of these horrific events and others like them and I was wondering , what were these people thinking and feeling to believe they were right in what they were doing?
So my question is this. If you believed beyond a shadow of any doubt that God wanted you to kill another person ,including children ,would you do it?

I'm just glad I don't hear those kinds of "voices" that those men of God in the Bible used to hear.
first god would never tell us to kill anyone. That would be the devil. God will tell us only to do good things. I listen to what god tells me to do and would never tell me to kill anyone. I know who to listen to.
It's easy to say no if you are not religious but my question was if you believe that God did in fact ask you to do this...and I mean absolutely believe it like the people in the examples did. Abraham was prepared to sacrifice his own son as a burnt offering to god because he believed that was what was required. Are we saying that modern beliefs allow you to question the motives of God? If he tells you to kill it's now OK to say no?
