He dosen't debunk the bible, he just dosen't believe in it. Just saying "I don't think the resurection happened" dose mean anything. That is not scholarly!
The article claims he knows the culture of the times, yet he dosen't understand why Paul said that women couldn't talk in Church. It was not that woman could not be preachers, but in that particular church that Paul addressed, the woman were all talking while the service was taking place. Paul was saying tell them to be quite when others are talking!
I think Ehrman is just miss guided. He needs to come to Jesus first, then study the scriptures. Rather he has thrown out the Christ and now is trying to rip apart the accounts written of the Christ.
He belongs to UNC Chapel Hill and I have been keeping a close track of his exploits. I hoped you'd have got a feeling I'm an early Church historical geek and there are several of my peers living in the NC area.
I wanna meet this man some day and it will be fun
Frank, take a chill pill and think about DanBrownomics. It's MONEY. These public counter-Bible brothers get pork from various directions.
Conversely, if I were to become a Bible scholar, I'll probably have to take alms during Sunday service.
I have his latest book and while I do not agree entirely with everything he wrote in it, I can relate to a lot of his experiences AND conclusions when OBJECTIVELY taken into consideration. I learned quite a few things too.

Do you know about the Jesus Seminar?
It's another organization which has been around for a while. They get a lot of attention for being experts on the historical Jesus. But many don't care about the fact that when the "scholars" hit a dead-end, they draw lots

I couldn't be more chill.
Obviously fiction writers like to generate money, but I don't believe that innocuous stuff like DaVinci Code is some kind of nefarious plot to exploit the religious or non-religious - it's just a damn novel, dude. Authors shouldn't be blamed (or credited) when the public descends on their work for a political cause.
