I don't pretend to be an expert but it seems to me that different religious sects take the matter of divorce and remarriage much more seriously than others and a number of religions want to get into the personal lives of their congregations much more aggressively than other sects or denominations. In general I think that most religions will try to promote the concept that a man and a woman should make every effort to stay together to maintain the family unit and I believe that a few of them will not recognize a divorce and a new marriage but I'd like to hear from someone who has more knowledge on the subject. I'm thinking that a divorce and remarriage is a really serious matter among Catholics and also Mormons. I'd like to hear some viewpoints from those who belong to those faiths to hear their point of view. I'm not claiming that I do and my statements are just based on the experiences of people that I've known.

You might want to post this thread in the Christianity Forum being that you are a newbie you probably won't get straight or friendly answers here because most don't use the Bible.

Well I will say that after joining the mormon church i was surprised at how many members have been divorced.Marriages seem to work pretty well where both partners are mormon and active in the church, when they arent.....problems often arise.Almost everyone over the age of 22-23 who is active is married,at least in my ward. While divorce and remarriage seems fairly accepted, even though not preferred, living with someone you arent married to is a big no-no.Divorce is more complicated in the lds church also if your marriage was 'sealed in the temple'.
