Unfortunately, there is a small fringe of christian extremists. We all would want the moderate christians to reign in these nuts, just as we expect the moderate muslims to reign in their nuts.

Are we against abortion? Yep, because it's the killing of children. Do we have a rash of Christians supporting the murderer of Dr. Tiller? No. Because that's murder as well and it's wrong.
It's just a few fools trying to get ratings and readers, but not stooped in reality. The vast majority of this country is comprised of Christians and will continue to be. And nobody's arming themselves for a revolution. Take the foil hat off and shut up. Nobody's buying your little rants.

A lot of what you say is true, I agree with the fringe group theory, and I think most christians would never support murder, but I disagree with you on the statement on christianity always being the majority in this country. It is being replaced with a secular system, and christian numbers are falling every year. I also have to sadly say even in my circle of acquaintances I know people who are buying guns, and bullets in preparation of some future political upheaval. I don’t agree with them, but when even liberals are buying arms it tells me there is a lot of unrest in our society. I don’t wear a foil hat, but I also don’t keep my eyes closed to potential problems.
I don’t think the Taliban could ever match the atrocities on the christian church in today’s world. These fringe groups in both Islam and christianity are just a small uneducated segment, and will be absorbed in time.
