This might be a mistake, but I was reading something about the Sikhs and it said something interesting. First here's the article.

Sikh-Americans and Religious Liberty - Pew Research Center

Apparently a few states, particularly Oregon, do not allow public school teachers to wear religious apparel. It is seen as exposing kids to unwanted religious influences. It was started due to concerns us Catholics would expose Protestant kids to nuns in habits. However Sikh men at least are supposed to wear religious apparel i.e. the turban.

I can kind of seen both sides on this actually. Teachers do have something of an authority position and in younger ages maybe that could be an undue influence. I don't see why it makes too much sense for teachers teaching those above elementary school. That said I was actually surprised such laws existed. Anyone else heard of them?

Note: Hopefully I will soon cut back on my posting here. It's becoming too distracting.

There is so much to improve the practical realities of the work and the job hunting experience that that outmoded established custom of wearing and applying the conformity to school attendance. It times of settled community life and better economic conditions I would think it fine to dress appropriately and not wear sexually provocative wear, and even everybody wearing pants should be preffered.

This is all a secularist subject, though.
