STT Resident & jamaicabound60565 it's called a Communal Household (a kind of intentional community). I am not just rent rooms in my house to anyone who comes in. But yes it is still hard! Obviously I have failed with the people who are just renting. I am screening the people even more now...

I do not think I am too demanding in terms of cleaning. House does not have to be spooky clean, I am actually willing to take on a larger share of the cleaning as I have a dog in the house! I would be OK with someone doing a bare minimum and it did not happen in the case of those 2 people.

Yes, I agree. With the best intentions it is not easy to step back from being an owner at times. On the other hand I feel like bias can come from the renters/roommates too. E.g. I asked some of my roommates to move their boxes with their stuff that were laying around the house 2.5 months(!) after they moved in. They took it as me exercising my ownership... In my view I wanted the boxes gone simply because I was one of the roommates too and the boxes were all over the place.
