Why do you say it's illogical? Isn' that how proration works? Prorate for materials and labor. For example, ....new carpet/pad/install. If carpet expected life is 10 years and tenant damaged it at 5 years of age. Then amt charged to tenant would he 50% of total cost of new carpet. The cost includes labor and materials.
That's why I asked if what you're saying is based in law. Obviously the cost of the original is prorated but I've never heard of labor costs being prorated. Just asking for clarification.

Not separately, but most of the more expensive and complicated jobs
-like replacing carpets or installing new counter tops- won't have the labor factor isolated.
And unless the LL is doing all of the work themselves can't have labor isolated on any practical basis
if it is labor for cleaning or fixing the spot, then it's 100% of the labor as charged. they should produce actual receipts for labor with number of hrs, hourly rate and work performed.
If it's labor for a new countertop, then the labor is prorated the same as the material. if only 25% of life left, then you pau 25% of material and labor.
It's labor for the counter-top. I too would like to know the source of your info. Thanks!
So I should demand for the actual receipts, before taking her to the court?

As regards receipts... the LL (or PM) should have provided their support for the amount.
And they should do so without being asked for it (in most instances).
no, I did not get any details. It only said that I am being charged for CT+labor.
In your other thread you said you were being charged $250 for the damaged countertop and this seems perfectly fair and reasonable (as I just said there).
