Long story short, he wouldn't have been discovered(possibly) if he hadn't lived within a mile of here.
I run the sex offender registry for our area about once a month using a mile or two radius. Our town of 38000 has quite a few, as you can imagine.
Turns out this guy lives closeby. Uses a fake name as "Jack". Well, after contacting the landlord, he gets very hostile and states "It's none of my business". I printed out a flyer for the next door neighbor, and it turns out the landlord thought I put them in all the neighbor's mailboxes.
He states if I want to continue to live here, I will not do something like this again.
Oy vey. I know my rights. The landlord is out of line. Just for that comment, I am thinking of starting a tenants union. Somebody has to watch out for our safety, and CLEARLY it's not in the landlord's interest. Evidence speaks for itself!
Do you want to live there if he hiring sex offenders to work there? You should demand that he let you break your lease and move out, or you will be notifying every resident that he has hired a sex offender to work in the building. Unless your lease says anything about notifying your neighbors that the landlord hired a sex offender, he can't evict you over that. Your landlord sounds shady as hell - I would leave.
Basically, I'm being accused of "digging dirt". Well, 1, it's not dirt, and 2, it was discovered. I didn't even know the maintenance man's name(first or last). I feel my LL should be thanking me for "letting one slip by". Its obvious he DOES NOT background check his employees. I think the same can be said for his tenants as well

PM me, there's one other thing I want to mention but I have to tread carefully on what's posted online. Legal reasons.
What job should a convicted felon who has served his time have, if not a maintenance man?
Good question, do you have a suggestion. Single women and kids do live here as well. Would you want the creep (A VIOLENT CONVICTED FELON NO LESS) around your family and friends?
The landlord thinks it's nobody's business? I'll bet any parents of young children in your building would beg to differ! I'd for sure let them know. Parents can be good at creating a stink when it comes to protecting their offspring!

Single women and children are all over the world. All felons will come in contact with them. I am fine with them being a maintenance man, even in the complex I live in (I am a woman). Your greatest threat is not from convicted sex offenders, but those who have not been caught, yet. There is no database for them.

Consider it done. I do know of at least one unit with small kids. I'm running the copies on the printer right now
