Maybe a different thread, but I was shocked - a couple months ago - at the *state* a LL would show a unit, this is in red-hot Seattle.

As in, the previous tenant was handing in the keys that day, and the cat urine (she had two cats) was still all over the carpet.

Even with that people were frantically turning in applications (not me).

there wasn't an "open house" per say, it was appointments every half an hour on a Sunday afternoon.

He did not expect anyone to move in tomorrow. He wanted someone that would start paying tomorrow and couldn't phrase it another way.

My daughter was unprepared when she went to an open house when she started apt hunting. It wasn't her first place, but it was her first on her own and with a cat. It was open for one hour only, advertised on CL a few days prior. She showed up near closing time and the guy there had no more applications but there was a sign in sheet and she put down her name and number. It's actually customary in her area to take your own application with your info and a check to put down a deposit on the spot if necessary for those who are serious, but she didn't know that. 2 weeks later the manager called to see if she was still interested (yes) and emailed her a form that she emailed back so he could do a credit check. It was either later that day or the next morning when he called back and said it was hers if she wanted it (yes again). Very little interaction on either of their parts! She actually took a friend over to show her where it was and the apt door was open but nobody was there so she just wandered about, snapping pics to share with me. I guess work was being done but not at that moment.

It's so odd how different people take different approached to getting tenants, and how finding a place sometimes seems like stupid luck and not much else. I don't know what happened to the other applicants or names that were on that list but she's been there over a year and is happy about it.

Well it appears this LLs approach may not have worked after all. A week later and I just got a voicemail and text message asking if I still had any interest at all. He obviously didn't remember me since I called his showing a circus act. I ignored his voicemail and texts.
