Tenants skip out for all kinds of reasons, leaving much of their stuff behind. Most long-time LLs have experienced it at least once.
Once again, any misunderstanding could have been prevented by a simple communication FROM YOU.
I think it is smart of you to not make a big deal of this with your LL. Now take the next step and ask yourself how you can communicate better. The day might come when you really do need a favor from your LL, and it will help if you have a decent relationship.
