Op edited his first post where he stated that in lieu of rent, he was looking for a roommate with benefits for a possible long term relationship. He also expected the tenant to run his errands and deliver things to him while he as away. When that didn't work out, tenant moved out and now he wants rent money.
I'm pretty sure he wanted rent AND "favors". I'm guessing he didn't get either, lol.
Yeah, you did. You stated that you wanted a roommate that could possibly lead to a long term relationship, and that you were looking for someone open to a FWB situation.
This is to the one that can't read. I put an add in craigslist for a roommate she got my key on 3rd. Do you understand so far? She said she moved in on the 9th. Do you understand so far? Now she moved all her furniture in she texted me on Facebook with all these pictures of her furniture in my house do you understand what's going on so far so she never paid me she never help me she just squated in my house. She moved out of the house on April the 1st she moved into another place but she pay them rent can you understand now
If I'm understanding correctly, someone lived in your home for less than a month. If you did not have a written agreement or lease signed by you and the tenant stating that she was to pay you X amount of dollars per month for rent, there is nothing you can do.
Just be glad that your "squatter" was short term, and didn't require a legal eviction to get rid of them.
That might be the snarkiest, rudest first post I've ever seen on these forums, and that is saying a lot.
As for actually answering. If you had no written lease, and the person was there less than 30 days, they were a guest. It is fairly obvious that there was NOT a "meeting of the minds" or that you and the tenant were not on the same page as far as expectations. So legally, you probably have no recourse at all.
On a personal front, if I moved into a place expecting to be a renter and found the landlord really wanted a maid/gopher and/or a girlfriend, I'd move out ASAP, block him on my phone, and not pay too.
