I'm in your camp.
Some boomers are doing better than the previous generation because they are eating nutritionally and exercising in concentrated ways. Many of the previous generation (our parents) drank quite a bit, ate awful stuff, etc. but they grew up in a time of less environmental toxins, and they were tougher in general. Some suffered heart attack after heart attack and still kept going; today, one heart attack for us and we're done. Interesting comparison between the "greatest generation" and the "boomers."
In a lot of ways, our parents ate purer, there weren't any genetically modified foods, sugar was sugar and wheat was wheat. Milk didn't have additives, it went bad in three days instead of the month long expiration date we now have for dairy. Also obesity is a bigger problem today than it was then. On the other hand, pollution controls weren't in place, the air was dirtier, and the cigarette warnings didn't come into play until the 60s. I think it's a dice toss. Good genes and bad genes can skip a generation or two and that particular gene that protected your parents from excessive alcohol might not be in place for you. Just enjoy.
Dunno. Kind of an individual "thing" anyway. Guess we'll really have to wait until about 2050 to know for sure. By then most of the statistics should be in.
Funny question for me right now. Might have had a mild heart attack yesterday, 911 response and all, yet 30 minutes later I felt fine, vitals good and didn't transport. Have an appointment with my doctor to get to the bottom of it.
So, I could assume room temperature today or may not check out of the net until 2026 or later. My mother died at 67 and my father at 71. I'm 66. It's a crap-shoot.

You only get one. Unless you qualify for a heart transplant. If doc says, "I want you to have an angiogram" then, please, do it. Just had it. No problem. And found out that my dear heart is in good shape. We need you here on CD !!!!
Interestingly enough I had a full work-up almost exactly a year ago - MRI, echo-cardiogram, stress test, et al. Passed with flying colors. Despitr my rather flippant post I am taking this seriously.
I don't know... I have a friend, young woman, about 30, her parents, in their early 60's and their group of friends are horrendous drinkers. They have a very large group of friends at the beach who are always out in the sun and boozing it up. Leather skin and a daily maintained mid-high alcohol level. It was scary to watch at her wedding.
