HOT! The cold snowy winters make me very depressed. It makes me really hate the holiday season, when you are supposed to be happy and cheerful. Give me a Santa in shorts and flip flops.
Never packing away my summer clothes or storing my gardening tools keeps me happy. I wouldn’t want to give this up.
For me it’s not the choice of hot and cold, it’s no longer having to tolerate those few months of short days and dreariness. When the leaves fell off the trees and before the snow brightened up things is the season I will never miss.
Hot, hot, hot! There is shade, swimming pools and cold drinks as well as indoors. In the heat, i wear less clothes to enjoy being outside. In the cold, I wear more clothes to survive being outside. Pretty obvious to me why the former has more appeal...
Like the OP, too much heat can make me physically ill. I am of Norwegian heritage, which may have something to do with that. Thus, I live mostly in northern Maine.
My wife is of French heritage. She and her brother (who lives with us in Maine) love the heat and the sun. To keep her happy in winter, I bought a place in TN, near where she has family. It was not expensive. Sometimes I join her down there for a few weeks in winter. Not always, though. If she wants to stay there until summer, she has to stay with her brother. I'll be in Maine!
It's interesting how someone's genetic and national heritage can affect their climate preferences.
I moved to the heat. Hated the cold. The heat doesn't keep me from doing most of the things I do but the cold and snow did.
I don't get these people that say you have to sit in front of the AC all day. I never had to do that.
