One time, when I wasn't working...and had Netflix by mail...I watched every single episode of the old Dark Shadows. I got three DVDs at a time and had a grand old time. It was a good show but soooo 'campy'. lol I enjoyed watching the boo boos in the show, since it was shown live but I'm glad they taped it too! Some of the story lines were pretty far fetched but I suppose that's why we liked it.
Mr. Ed the Talking Horse. The guy who was on the show with Mr. Ed, who was an architect in the show, would sometimes star in Studebaker car commercials that ran with the show. Early 60's, since Studebaker left the US market in I think 1963.
I was waiting to see Dark Shadows show up. That was my first thought.
Also Maya and the Monkees.
I remember watching the Dark Shadows series in college. Everyone would gather in the student union lounge to watch it in the afternoons. My Mom was a fan too -we both had a crush on Barnabas, lol.
As far as earlier childhood shows, I loved: Captain Kangaroo, the Shari Lewis Show (Lamb Chop was my favorite puppet(, Howdy Doody, Sky King, Tarzan movies with Johnny Weismuller, Saturday afternoon bad Italian gladiator movies (the awful lip synching was hilarious), and even Jack LaLanne's exercise show, which I watched with my Mom in our finished basement.
Oh, someone mentioned "American Bandstand" as a favorite show. In Baltimore we had "The Buddy Deane Show" on every day, which of course was immortalized by John Waters in "Hairspray". All of my girl friends as well as myself learned to dance by watching the Buddy Deane show in the basement or the rec room. It was truly a Baltimore phenomenon, the same as the "Miss Rhea and Sunshine" show. That's the same Rhea Feikin you'll still see on PBS telethons to this day, and she was doing her show in the 60s! Go Miss Rhea!
Rocky and Bullwinkle
Captain Kangaroo
Rawhide; as a toddler, I had a crush on Clint Eastwood! I also wanted to BE Rowdy, and had a cowgirl outfit and stick horse.
More to add to the list. While never much if a Rawhide, Wagon Train or Bonanza fan, I loved:
F-Troop
Maverick
Palladin (Have Gun will Travel)
Bat Masterson (was that a character or a show?)
Branded (though that one has been listed. Really? And entire show about misplaced western military honor, after they wiped out native Indians? Even as a kid that bugged me a LOT!!).
