I didn’t have TSA pre-check though since I was included on DH’s when he worked and we travelled together. For $20 more I got GE and TSA pre-check both since I needed to schedule an interview anyway.

We applied in November and yesterday was the first date for an interview. We should get cards mailed to us although we don’t need to carry them when traveling. We got emails we were both approved yesterday. I read passports are still taking 12 weeks.

jeanji, Passport, I received mine recently in 6 weeks; may I know where you will be traveling; as I wrote someone, I travel vicariously ! What countries have you visited, so enjoy people sharing their adventures !

My family trip was cancelled, though happy to have a passport, especially since I live across the water from Victoria, BC.

Three local Sandhill Cranes walking on the snow.

One might call them "snowbirds."

Well, I just did it. I had my send-off this morning. I just turned on my permanent "Out of Office" reply on my work email. So looking forward to retirement!

Super big congratulations on wrapping up your job and starting on a new chapter in life. Enjoy your freedom and make the most of it while you can - hope you are in good health now and for many more years in the future.

We just moved to Michigan earlier this year and there are so many wonderful state parks and other things to explore that I think that will be one of the top agenda items. I plan on beginning volunteer work soon as well but may wait for a few weeks to just simply exhale and enjoy my freedom for a bit. I also have some pesky things I've put off for when I had more time that I will have to take care of but I will spread those out a bit.

Much to my husband's chagrin I'm trying to switch to a vegan diet....I knew I'd need to wait until I had more time to cook all my meals and plan them out so that they are nutritionally balanced and not just animal product-free. He was, however, glad that I have changed my mind about what I told him for years I would do when I retired, which was to die my hair blue, Just because I could. I'm 10 years older now and it has lost some if its appeal LOL.

Celebratory dinner out planned for tioight!
