My grandmother told me that the key to longevity is learning to deal with loss. (She lived to be 99 1/2 years young.)

I also live by the words of the late great Joseph Campbell-Follow your bliss.

And I also follow the Wiccan Rede: Do what you will, harm none (which is similar to Follow your bliss).

Work hard, spend wisely. Take care of those you love and it will be returned. Live the life you want, not the life others think you should.

And for the young guys. The abuse you mete out to your body when young will come back to haunt you. Unless you have a replacement in the closet.

This. I think we all knew as much as we would ever know by the age of three, except perhaps the pain of impermanence.

Picking something else, I would say my inner voice keeps trying to teach me, but I refuse to learn...
"You know this one's going to darn near kill you, right?" (Inner voice says)
"Really?" (Ever optimist me)
"But you'll do it anyway"
"He's cute smart and funny!"
"You'll have the time of your life...but there will be hell to pay."
"Scary!"
"Best memories and excitement of your life."
"Then I have to!"
"You don't have to, but you're going to...just don't try to say I didn't tell you so...."

Here are some of my best life lessons:

1. Everything is a matter of perspective.

2. Live in the moment.

3. Just do it. Tomorrow maybe too late.

4. You can learn something from everybody.

5. Gratitude is happiness doubled by wonder.

6. Where there is a will, there is a way.
