I had a roommate a long time ago who would only date Navy Seals (or Ex Navy Seals) and it dramatically lowered her dating pool. She stuck with it and eventually nabbed another one. LOL.

I am saddened to read this post. I was so happy for you when you found this seemingly ideal job, both for you and the veterans.

Did you try talking with the secretary to relay to the incompetent leader what your criteria is? Maybe you don't have to quit, you can just decline until she "gets it" about what you want and will do.
