Ok, I was denied social security disability twice..at the time I was so sick and depressed and the 2nd denial just shoved me in a darker place...question is, i did not appeal again within the 60 days. I do want to pursue it, do i need to just find an attorney, or do i start a new file, or what....i know I am kind of vague, but not feeling good today so need to keep the details short.
I went on the SS website, that was a joke...I guess I can call but it's a hassle and thought someone might have a quick answer..thanks
If you are serious about SSDI then never let the appeal lapse because when you are approved your benefits are retroactive. Another words you'll be paid from the date you filed. If you start over then you've lost money and time. Get an attorney. BTW, most people are denied multible times and may take 3-4 years.

The hassle is to get you to stop. There are 'retires' from the SS who are attorneys that advertise themselves as 'insiders' who know how to get you your SS.
Just another government scam, when I was denied I fired off a letter to em stating they were just a scam. Got the approval letter with in a week and all back money. But I had two licenses issued by government agencies and could no longer pass their medical requirement. You are in a different boat.
That's why you should get a lawyer. Get a lawyer who specializes in SS cases. The maximum payout to a lawyer is around 5 grand and is subtracted from the settlement only. Don't take the rejection personal, its standard procedure. I've had lawyers tell me they've had folks on their deathbed and or in a coma and be denied. It just takes time and the objective is to get in front of a judge in which your lawyer will strive for. Good luck.
Don't give up! An attorney who specializes in SS disability is best. If you can't afford one, at least get a doctor who is willing to support you and provide convincing paperwork to accompany your appeals. Social Security is a stinker to deal with. Document, document, document. Keep copies of all materials you submit. Record time, date and details of each conversation you have with Social Security--be sure to get representative's first and last name, too. They DO make mistakes. Good luck.

After getting a attorney it was 7 months and I had my SSD. It was quick and easy with no runaround. Just pick well.
