I have to admit, I'm no theater fan. My parents were huge B'way fans, so in my teens I saw a several awful, good, and great plays, a couple of them starring Elizabeth Ashley ("Agnes of God" was fabulous). The last play I saw was on a lark, seeing Carol Channing in "Hello Dolly." That was a hoot! I was told several years later by a veteran stage-hand that the reason she wore those long, long flowing gowns was to sop up the urine from her voraciously incontinent bladder as she, in her elderly way, limped across the stage; even "Depends" cannot contain the wrath of Niagara Falls, I guess.

But I have a date tomorrow and we're seeing "Grapes of Wrath" at Trinity Square, and I sort of dread it, as I of course read the book in college and it was depressing as hell.

Has anyone seen the play?

saw it last week. The performances were fantastic, very emotionally stirring. It is a pretty depressing story, of course. Still, it should give you a lot to talk about with your date afterwards.

So, how was it Alfie? It's funny....the first play I ever saw at Trinity was Of Mice and Men, many moons ago on a school field trip.

That Steinbeck, what a hoot! <G>

It was utterly depressing and beautifully acted.
