The previous posters are 100% correct ... they go nuts here ... worse than RI. Where we are, they think that 10 inches is a blizzard ! I'm serious. In 1993 they had 10 to 12", and now they reminisce about the Blizzard of 1993. Every darned winter it's all over the news. We were supposed to get an ice storm today, but got rain instead. That's worse than anything. Check the newspapers down here and look up the ice storm of 2006. 800,000 people in NC and upper SC were without power; people were killed from falling trees on their homes. We were without power for 6 days and the temps were down in the low 20's. Ice is worse than anything. We dread it but ice storms happen frequently in the winter.

C'mon down !

Hi I recently moved to Florida from RI.I lived there for 48 yrs, driving in the snow isn't that difficult just drive slow and remember to brake slowly well before you are planning on turning or stopping. Also a good set of all season radials or snow tires help out a lot.Going downhill is a little harder just try to go as slow as u can before you begin to go down the hill(this may cause the locals to yell at you and honk horns)but it is the safest way to do it uphill depends on the steepness of the hill and how well the road is sanded and plowed.Sometimes you just can't go uphill so finding an alternate route is better. I hope this helps

I have to laugh even harder at this now as the pot hole season is upon us and the roads here outside of Raleigh are BAD. I have seen potholes that would require you to have a kidney transplant if you hit them. And the general condition of the roads is far worse than up North.
