Rhode Island Pride says it plans to hold a rally in Cathedral Square in Providence Sunday at 6:30 p.m. in response to Tobin's tweet.
For those unfamiliar with this guy (I never heard of him), he is the Bishop of Providence.
"Pope John Paul II appointed Tobin Bishop of Providence, Rhode Island, on March 31, 2005 as one of his last appointments of a bishop during the pope's 26-year reign; he was installed on May 31, 2005. Bishop Tobin sits on the Board of Trustees of Providence College and of Salve Regina University. He also maintains a column for his diocesan newspaper, "Without a Doubt"."
If you are a RI catholic, Tobin is your bishop. He is what can only be described as an arch conservative by any 2019 standard. As many do, he picks & chooses amongst the numerous biblical "abominations". His favorite one seems to be gay people. Most RI catholics I know go out of their way not to listen to him. As such, he's vociferously fought & lost on every equality advancement in the state since he was appointed bishop.

And, furthermore, when Tobin tweets "especially harmful for children" he exhibits absolutely no self-awareness, no sense of irony & no sense of his churches history when it comes to protecting children.
Isn't this the same guy that completely ignored the sexual abuse of minors in Pittsburgh by officials of his church? Said he was aware but that it was outside his jurisdiction so he took no action.

Nothing but a total hypocrite.
Bingo. This guy has a hell of a lot of nerve talking about the well being of children, based on his history.
Obviously, the only people who care what a Roman Catholic bishop has to say are from Rhode Island, since the state is still majority-Catholic. Last I checked, every other U.S. state is majority-Protestant and, therefore, the residents thereof could not care less about commentary made by a Roman Catholic bishop.
FYI, the United States is still a Protestant country.
