Compared with 38 in Boston, a city of nearly 4 times the population. Almost time to get your heads out of the sand folks. Unless you're still selling those "Safer than Hartford" T- shirts.

"Gangs -- and Guns Beanz was known to run with the so-called Harriet Street gang in Providence, according to law enforcement sources. He rapped about living the street life, and had a criminal record that included multiple drug and firearm arrests. In 2017, he pled guilty to multiple weapons and drug felony charges and was sentenced to 8 years in prison with 30 months to serve. In the song “Big Bro,” Owens rapped of guns, retaliation, and murder: "I can’t scared to go back…I’ll put one in your skull, wrap up your head. You really want to go though? I’ll be riding through the hood with the .44." Shortly after midnight Sunday morning, police had extra presence in the Harriet Street area following the homicide -- and reportedly seized a "ghost" gun with live ammunition following a traffic stop of individuals known to police."
In a response to Saturday's homicide Providence Mayor Jorge Elorza released the following statement:
“Last night, Providence experienced a senseless act of violence. My heart is breaking for the victim, their family, and our community as a whole. Tragedies like this shake our community and our city, and I know that these crimes do not represent who we are here in Providence,” said Mayor Jorge O. Elorza. “The availability of guns and the amount of firepower on our streets is simply unacceptable. As Mayor, I understand that our community needs and deserves to feel safe, and I will continue to do everything I can to work with our partners and leaders to address the causes of violence in our city. I have full confidence in the ability of our Providence Police Department to investigate this crime, seek justice, and continue to protect and serve our neighborhoods. If anyone has information regarding this incident, you are encouraged to contact the Providence Police.”
"Providence police said Monday that a 33-year-old man was found with a fatal gunshot wound in the driveway of a home he shared with other people."
"Lapatin said police are looking at all possibilities, including whether the man was shot by someone in the house or by someone driving by.
"Either way, if it was somebody in the house, they know him. If somebody pulled up to the house, they're looking for him. That's why we say it's a targeted shooting," Lapatin said."
So this was apparently a gang house. I don't think it's a coincidence that several of the recent incidents near PC happened very close to this house on Huxley Ave.

I believe there was also a shots fired call on Huxley Ave. fairly recently. That is likely related to this house.
After multiple shots fired calls this month in the Lockwood projects of South Providence, police added patrols in the area and ended up seizing loaded weapon and marijuana.
