Indeed Washington Park isn't South Providence. Two entirely different neighborhoods. All this Maine fellow seem to know is "South Providence". SP is in fact only 2 neighborhoods: Upper & Lower. But, in his strange crusade on this forum to paint a crime portrait across the entire minority/majority South/West Side of Providence, nuance of neighborhoods hardly matters. None of it any place he'd live or has ever lived.
To make the simple distinctions (we all know) would take too much current knowledge of the city. Not easy to come by when you live in rural Maine & have to get your city info from crime news on the web.

Providence Police Chief Hugh Clements said the investigation revealed the assailant group pulled up in front of a home where the other group was gathered outside on the front porch. After parking in front of the home, the assailant group got out of their vehicle and opened fire, according to Clements. The two groups exchanged gunfire for several minutes before the assailant group hopped back into their vehicle and took off. In total, Clements estimates anywhere from 50 to 60 shots were fired."

He said some of the weapons that have been seized by Providence Police are “weapons of war.” “Some of the guns [officers] are getting off the street are terrifying,” Elorza said. “They have no business being in the hands of civilians.”"

Excuse me??? Just what part of that advice do you consider to be nonsense? That retaliatory shootings don't occur (especially in the period following a gang related mass shooting), and that extreme caution shouldn't be exercised? Must be nice to sit there in the safety of Jamestown, and make such a call...
Man was just shot to death on Pope St. in Olneyville. This happened at about 9 PM. No other info available, or if it's related to the recent mass shooting in Washington Park. ONCE AGAIN, BE CAREFUL. THIS IS NOT A DRILL.

NINE people have been shot in Providence over the past two days, one fatally. I'm bewildered as to how one can not find that alarming. And what are we up to, 8 murders now? And the summer hasn't even began...

Providence happens to be the largest city in the tiny state I DO live in. The direct relevance of it's financial condition couldn't be clearer. Now, should I begin constantly posting on the Maine site about any conditions in, say Bangor, feel free to call it out as weird.
