Although RI has little influence on the national election, we can only hope that Trump's prediction of outright fraud if he is not re-elected does not hold true. And he lives and knows fraud. Our fragile democracy is very much at risk.

I have faith that Nellie Gorbea will do her best to insure our elections are fair, truly counted, and accessible to all registered voters in RI.

Not really. The vote has often not gone my way - that's democracy. The better point is that I don't share your view of our system's exceptionalism. Democracy's world history tells a more fragile story and continues to do so.

Holly, I assure you: If Trump wins Rhode Island, I will be the first to cry "fraud!"

In the meantime, the Democrats are the only Party who have already imagined a scenario in which Trump wins the Electoral College fair and square, but Biden refuses to concede and turns to the military.

But I guess that doesn't trouble you, since your brand of soda is the D brand.

The same voters that have perpetuated a one party system of Democrats in Rhode Island that have annihilated the middle class and sent taxpayers fleeing in terror? How can you be expected to influence a national election when you can't influence your own?

Enough with the cryptic references. What exactly do you perceive to be the threat? And you talk about "word salad"? Good grief man, spit it out. Why don't you simply tell us what's different this time? I've never seen a man use more words to not say anything.

As much as I'd like to, I'll pass on your invitation to dive directly into national politics & the peril, as I see it. This is the RI Relocation Forum.

It not about "idiots". I'm not even saying that Rhode Island HAS any. I know that you're trying to love your new state, but haven't you started to wonder yet why "tiny" Rhode Island sits near the bottom of every meaningful ranking? Why despite it's geographical location, it continues to sputter without an economy? It's what our Founding Fathers feared might happen when uninformed and apathetic voters were granted an excess of democracy. Given too much, they'd have too little.

Save the speech bro. I am not "new" here. Been here since 2003.

I suggest catching up with the old flame who hurt you so, you may find out she's unhappy without you! (You know, because you were actually an interesting guy who didn't turn every conversation into Rhode Island hate porn.)

Yet you continually reference it here when it suits you. The greatest "peril" that you face is seeing Trump's mug in the White House for another 4 years. Hardly the end of democracy as we know it. So post over in politics and I'll be sure to reply.

BTW Holly, Gorbea may want to take a look at this first:

More Than 550,000 Primary Absentee Ballots Rejected In 2020

Election experts said first-time absentee voters are much more likely to make the kinds of mistakes that lead to rejected ballots. Studies also show that voters of color and young voters are more likely than others to have their ballots not count.

Most absentee or mail-in ballots are rejected because required signatures are missing or don't match the one on record, or because the ballot arrives too late.

"If something goes wrong with any of this, that's a problem writ large, but it's also going to be one that hits some populations of the United States a bit harder than others, potentially disenfranchises different groups of folks at higher rates," said Rob Griffin of the Democracy Fund, which is conducting a sweeping survey of the 2020 electorate with researchers at UCLA.
