Newport crime/safety (safe area, live, safe)

Is Newport considered a safe area in general? Are there bad parts of town where crime is more prevalent? How is the area around Morton Park? Thank you so much for any info you can provide!

I live across the bridge & visit often. Never feel unsafe. The simple answer is yes. Newport is generally a safe city. But, like all small cities there is crime. Mostly petty. As for Morton Park, I’m not familiar.

Thank you! I think the area I'm asking about near Morton Park is called the Fifth Ward.

Agree with IM. Never felt unsafe In Newport. The 5th ward is fine. Only unsafe areas are around housing projects near Broadway and they are easily avoided. Just look at a crime map of the city.

The Fifth Ward is a nice area.

West of Broadway is problematic, but that's nowhere near Morton Park.
