A move to the Ft. Lee area may be in our future. I am already researching schools and neighborhoods. In a nutshell, I am looking for something fairly close to Ft. Lee, which I am guessing will be the Route 10 corridor. I do want to stay in the Chesterfield school system, versus Colonial Heights or Petersburg. I would also like to find a planned community with pool; hoping to keep the home price under $400,000.

I see that there are a lot of developments springing up along 360 past Woodlake, but is there a back way to Ft. Lee? Again, looking to get away from the congestion we experience on Rt. 3 in Fredericksburg.

Also, any local builders to possibly steer away from in the event we go with new construction.

Thanks for any info you can give.

Probably about a 45 min drive from the Woodlake area to Ft. Lee, using 277 to 95 to Temple Ave to Ft. Lee. Why not do yourself a favor and look in the Chester area, or maybe even closer---there are a couple of nice planned communities off the Walthall exit of 95, probably no more than 15 min from Ft. Lee.

Well, we got a chance to do a little bit of driving in the Chester area today and I have a few questions... What do you folks know about Rivers Bend. We drove through today and I liked the look of the community. Does anyone have any ideas on the cost of the HOA dues? Also, how are the schools? It looks like this development currently is assigned to Thomas Dale High. Anything good (or bad) to consider??? Thanks for your input...

Default Rivers Bend HOA dues

The HOA dues are very low. $520/yr. or $140/qtr. Includes pool membership.

JH - What about Stoney Glen? And what is the distinction with Stoney Glen West? Just that one is newer? Do they use the same amenities? And what are the HOA fees like there? With the cost of homes still going down here in my area, looks like I am not going to go as high as I first hoped. What subdivisions would you recommend in Chesterfield, hopefully with a pool, and homes in the $315K and less range. Also, how are short sales/foreclosures affecting the market there? Thanks for your input.

I just heard this weekend, a parent I knew last year took her son out of private school to go thru the engineering program at Th. Dale HS, so that says a lot.
