My mom really liked Ford's Colony in Williamsburg. We wanted to find something like that, maybe in between there and Richmond, and maybe just a little less expensive (houses were over 500k mostly)

Can anyone please suggest a community like that? We really aren't familiar with any towns around the area. Thank you!

That is, to my knowledge, the only thing like that between Williamsburg and Richmond. Some places like that in Chesterfield and Henrico though, if you are content with large nice gate community. Not all that much cheaper though...

New Kent County is equidistant between the Burg and Richmond with I 64 going directly through the middle. There are several developments in the county including new Kent Vineyards, Kentland, Patriots Landing and Vineterra. Vineterra would be the most like Fords Colony and the community includes a winery and golf course. Check it out on line, really a nice piece of real estate.

Thank you for the suggestions and happy Independence weekend!

Yikes there are some steep prices in Viniterra, but it is very nice! See the thing is when we look at beautiful houses in other states (like NC for ex) and see gorgeous ones for 300k, it's hard to settle for ones that are 600-900k. I wish my mom didn't want a community so much, but since it's just us, she wants to have the community and activities (she said if we had to she'd forgo it but I know she'd be happiest in one).

Hmmm does anyone know of a community anywhere around Richmond then, not necessarily in between Williamsburg and Richmond?

You might also consider Brickshire in New Kent nice community, not gated amenities include pool, trails, clubhouse, tennis, fitness room, adjacent to golf course. Pricing starts in the low $300's
