Does anyone commute from Charlottesville to Richmond? Is traffic bad during morning/evening rush hour in downtown Richmond? I would be traveling to VCU Medical Center but am not familiar with the area. Any advice is appreciated.

I did the opposite commute, which was nice. You'll likely hit traffic after 288 and it can get heavy from Short Pump on. Not horrible NY style traffic, but enough. If you can go in off peak you should do fine.

Also remember to pack a good pair of sunglasses as you'll be heading into the sun both ways.

Traffic is not that bad. My sister will be starting that commute starting in August. If you are looking for someone to carpool, send me a private message and I'll give you her contact.

It starts backing up at Staples Mill Rd as the sun comes up. Usually slows down to 35. Take a GPS with you for alternate routes. If you ever get lost down there use 250. It'll get you to VCU and it'll get you home.
