...still a heck a lot nicer than the other similar shopping areas in town. Just take the Food Lion that I shop at, they have THREE different floors/carpets. Nice for a quilt, but as a foor in a grocery store................

No- vinyl would be considered Resilient flooring along with VCT (typical commercial tile). Carpet only refers to woven floorcovering or similar products that have a pile face. Ceramic, pavers, brick... usually considered hard surface flooring. The wood look floors you see in stores like kroger or WalMart are actually resilient floors with a "wood look" surface. There are plenty of retailer who choose multiple types of floors in their facilities based on the department, so having 2,3, or 4 different floor materials is actually something we see more frequently now.

Myrtle Beach, SC. The area's population is something like 325,000 and the biggest highways that go anywhere near there are US-501 and US-17.

Thanks for clearing that up.
The difference in the floor material in the Appomattox Kroger does not really match, so my guess is that they re-did a section of the store and made (in my opinion) strange choices in flooring. Would have looked nicer if they just put the same flooring in the whole store. The difference in wear and tear somehow implies that......

...but two Interstates are being developed that end in Myrtle Beach- both have significant portions completed, with the 6 lane SC 31 being a part of that. Another interesting thing about the Myrtle Beach area is that while having only a third of the population of Lynchburg, it is the largest of any municipality in the MSA.
