Apts in Blacksburg/Roanoke
The rent you desire is very low for Blacksburg/Roanoke. Look at the Radford and Christiansburg area. In Roanoke City(about 45 min drive to Tech) you could find such housing. There is a new SmartBus shuttle that now goes between Roanoke and Blacksburg which is very affordable so parking is not an issue at Tech. If you are interested in Roanoke, check the local paper.
I used to commute to Blacksburg daily from my home in Roanoke and got used to it. Its a beautiful drive. Good Luck.
