I am moving from Raleigh NC to Sacramento in late September and I have found two similar apartment complexes that look appealing; however, the prices are drastically different. The first complex is in Sundance Lake and is called Medici Apartment Homes, with a monthly rent of $1200. The second is in Gateway West and is called Atrium Court Apartments, with a monthly rent of $800. Both provide everything I am looking for in an apartment: similar in size, W/D in each unit, pool/fitness center, close proximity to the Airport and I-5, balcony, etc. Atrium Court also has a 2nd bathroom. My questions: why the difference in price? Are the neighborhoods drastically different (safety, etc)? Unfortunately, I will not have an opportunity to visit before I move, so any information anyone would be willing to provide would be a great help. Thank you.

I'm pretty sure the Atrium apartments are low income apartments. If you make over a certain amount, you can't rent there. You can call and ask why they're so much cheaper, but I'm almost positive they have income restrictions...
