will be moving shortly, and will need to live in an apt for a few months - 2 to 4 likely, during home search and sale of my home in TX. Are the any recommendations on apts that allow short leases or mo to mo? Looking for something cheap and clean - no frills necessary.....thinking 2bd/1bath - hoping in the 1000-1200 range.

I sent you a private message, but here is more info on the ones I mentioned:

Lake Forest - at the North end of EDH, quiet area, near small shopping center, walk to K-8 schools. We live near here. Greenbelt Views! Avail 9/10! Upstairs! Hurry! (http://sacramento.craigslist.org/apa/1896704159.html - broken link) - this ad shows they have 3-month leases available.

Here's a link with renter ratings for EDH apts. El Dorado Hills Apartments for Rent - El Dorado Hills Apartments Reviews and Ratings

As I mentioned before, many of the apartments say they won't take less than a 6-month lease but if you talk to the manager, you might find they are willing to do 3 months or even month to month with an added cost (we paid an extra $200/month for that). Good luck!

And avoid the EDH apartments south of 50. Too much crime.

Nina is right about the apartments south of highway 50. They are designated "low income" and don't have a good crowd there. Most others are good. There are quite a few along EDH Blvd. Quiet, nice, newer. Talk to the mgrs as Nina says, times are tough right now, they may be happy to rent for fewer than 6 months...

Good luck and welcome to the area!!!
