I think it's great that Sacramentans aren't giving up:

"A group of 25 Sacramento business leaders will send a letter to the NBA board of governors tomorrow morning asking that group to consider new ownership for the Sacramento Kings, sources say.

A spokesman for the group, Gregory Hayes, a member of the mayor's Think Big Sacramento organization, said the group will hold a press conference tomorrow morning near the site of the proposed arena in the downtown railyard".

The Maloofs are jerks. The folks pushing the arena plan are also jerks.

Focus on the rip-off, not the ‘bad’ Maloofs | Game to 100

"One NBA owner recently informed me that Ron Burkle isn't the only billionaire intrigued by the prospect of landing a plum in the politically rich Sacramento environment".

Any guesses on who is this other billionaire?

The guy who just sold Instagram?

Perhaps Elon Musk is interested in inventing a new type of arena? And/or would like to use the PBP for rocket testing and would buy out the Maloofs just for kicks.

Sacramento's arena deal appears dead.

NBA Commissioner David Stern told reporters today the sides were "not able to make a deal," adding "there's nothing further to be done."

"It's not going to happen, but I can say the city has stepped up," he said.

So, after reading all of the comments by the Maloof's, Stern and Kevin Johnson, I'd have to say the prospects for a downtown arena appear rather bleak.
