Ya, it is, and the heat can be oppressive. But the tradeoff is that you might have a sweltering hot, humid day, but you can sit outside at 2:00 am in shorts - or in nothing at all - and it just feels wonderful. Not a hint of chill in the air. It just feels good. That is the thing I think I would miss the most if I moved, because I love to sit outside on a summer night and not need a jacket. California weather is really nice, though. It's just chillier nights that would bother me.

Rainfall totals for the season are actually pretty average for Sacramento so far. LA is actually an inch ahead of you guys! Classic El Niño pattern this winter.

Hmmm, NOAA Shows differently at https://www.cnrfc.noaa.gov/awipsProducts/RNOWRKCLI.php

Los Angeles 11.81
Sacramento 10.87 (9.55 at the airport)
San Diego 7.38

LA has been getting pounded this year. SD is the driest Coastal city in CA in terms of volume but not frequency.
The airport totals above tend to be among the lowest in the region, so for my area, which averages 14" per year compared to 10" downtown, I'd prorate an estimate right around the same as Sacramento to date. Somewhat unusual, but Sacramento is average and SoCal above average this season. Had 1.3" just yesterday. It's beautiful.

Hey, Ts, keep this in mind when making your comparisons.

Sacramento and the it's airport have the lowest totals for our region. West, East and North, rain totals are 1/3 to double, sometimes even more. So the Sacramento Area rain totals are much more than the downtown or airport readings,

Foothills to the West of Sacto are 30-40 inches
Mountains to the West of Sacto are 40-60 inches
Due West of Sacto, Napa and Sonoma Valleys, coastal mountains are in 30-45 inches range
North of Sac towards Redding, near double than downtown Sac totals.

Of course, there are microclimates. Start going south of Sac, and it gets real dry real fast in places like Antioch, Livermore, Tracy, Stockton -- like 11-14 inches per year. Sac is sort of in the middle of those ranges and similar to Inland East Bay. Just pointing out the NOAA totals show LA with even higher totals than Sac this year, bc it's an El Niño year, andA is drier than, say, Pasadena or the SFV too. Great season statewide!!

You keep talking about how where you live in San Diego County has more rainfall than downtown San Diego.

Well lets look at the Consolidated Metro Area of Sacramento and it major cities and towns:
Elk Grove=19.00
Davis=19.66
Sacramento=20.27
Rancho Cordova=21.00
Yuba City=21.00
Citrus Heights=24.00
Folsom=24.26
Roseville=24.61
Coloma-36.00
Auburn=37.36
Placerville=38.11
Jackson=39.00
Pollock Pines=45.00
Colfax=47.00
Foresthill=51.00
South Lake Tahoe=52.45
Nevada City=59.00
Blue Canyon Airport=64.62
Total Annual Average = 35.74 inches

Other cities that are not actually part of the Consolidated Metro of Sacramento but that are related with Sacramento by sharing work commutes or recreation:

In inches:
Vacaville=24.53, Fairfield=24.89, Stockton=17.55 and Napa=25.22

Antioch, Livermore, Tracy and Stockton are all part of the Bay Area, not Sacramento.
