Have fun in tahoe. heavenly is iconic and a treasure. Heard anything about tahoe hosting the olympics recently?

Ill be going to the foothills tomorrow to enjoy the snow. I dont feel like dealing with California drivers today.

Be sure to hike the diablo mountains this spring. Check out the mountains near Coalinga and paso robles. Theyll be stunning from all the rain.

Edit:
Morro bay. Wow

Sounds like fun don't and Chim. I am not a snow person but would definitely be heading there if I was into snow sports.

Yeah it surprised me quite a bit to find that temp difference between upstairs and downstairs areas of my home. i did not find out until I had the new Google Nest thermostat and sensors installed and measured over time. I am trying to figure out the best home solution to distribute heat evenly better. I did install new energy efficient windows in my home last year so perhaps might be the attic insulation? Not really sure what else it could be.

Stay warm, Mix, get some of those comfy slip-on house shoes,

Don't,
don't forget to tell us of your foothill adventures and let me know if they had snow in Mariposa or wherever you go-Coursegold?

Highway 50 is open with chain controls, but I'm waiting for Monday to go to Tahoe, less crowds. We were in Placerville instead, hiked on some snowy trails. Later in the week I hope to make it to Yosemite again, for a least one night over, such an epic year I want to be in a snowy Yosemite Valley as much as possible this year. Maybe Horsetail Falls will show her "fire-ice" glory when I'm there.

Yes, I agree, Don't,
Love, Paso Robles and Morrow Bay
Never been to Coalinga-didn't they have big earthquake several decades ago?

By the way, that video of the Heavenly ski run shows only some of the spectacular Lake views, and when the video ends that guy is only at the half way point, he is skiing from around 9,500ft to 7,500ft, the bottom is around 6,500ft.

Heavenly has received 391 inches of snow to date this season, and there are 2 more snows month left.

That's near 33 feet!! of snow.

But the Sierra's occasionally can average 500 inches!! in heavy years.

Just check those rainfall totals, they're already higher!

Sacramento CSUS 20.00
Sacramento airport 15.51
Burbank 19.31, beating Santa Barbara
Downtown LA 18.35
San Diego international 10.20
Ramona 16.78, wettest city in San Diego Metro

Ramona is just over the hill from where we live, even though we are in San Diego city limits, and rainfall is usually just a smidge higher than where we are. The city of San Diego covers an enormous amount of area, so the topography and climate can vary greatly. Yesterday afternoon, we left our neighborhood after torrential downpours and brief hail, with the temperature of 47°, when we arrived downtown 20 minutes later, it was 55°, and the streets were bone dry with partly cloudy skies. When we drove home 90 minutes later, it was 45° in our neighborhood and the roads were sopping wet. It's been like that a lot lately, fascinating microclimates within one city limit. Sacramento may not have so many microclimates, but the bay area of course does, even more so.
We also had hail again last night, the third time in 3 days.

Cool!

The Sacramento Metro has micro climates, for one, it covers the California Delta(below sea level in some areas) to Sierra Foothills up to 3,000ft. Actually, the Sacramento CSA goes all the way up to Tahoe up to the State line so in that regard we have a huge climate range. Sea Level to 10,000 ft.

We were in El Dorado Hills(Serrano) today for a baby shower, just above Folsom and below Placerville and the temp was 39F down in Sac it was 53F, just another 15 minutes further up it was snowing heavenly, I mean heavily, :-), 31F at Pollock Pines.

Excluding South Lake Tahoe which is actually part of the Sacramento CSA; the 2 wettest larger towns in the Sacramento Metro are:

In Inches to date, Feb 25, 2023
Auburn 30.12
Placerville 34.78

Had to cut the foothill visit short, there were Too many outages, but it was fun hanging out with old friends(madera county)

Gotta make it up when the weather is nicer and things are normal.

Next storm will be norcal focused. Get ready

Boise, idaho ? Nope, orange county

South America would be coastal Uruguay and Chile both fabulous places during our Sacramento winters it is summer there and lovely. Heat doesn’t really bother me as I just swim a while to cool off. I’d be looking at coastal parts of southern Europe that don’t get hot versus Madrid in Spain that does get blazing hot in summer and cold in winter. Sacramento has Madrid Spain weather.
