Hello, our family is looking to move to Sacramento area due to a new job. Does anyone know of some safe areas near/around Rancho Cordova. I am having a hard time due to not knowing the area to well also the fact I have a big dog that's a mixed breed of Dingo/pit and a cat. We are a family of three, my husband myself and our three year old daughter with a baby on the way any info will be appreciated thanks

What is your budget?
Renting or buying?
Using public schools? (Rancho is served by Folsom Cordova or Elk Grove depending on where you live and there is a difference in school performance).
Prices vary widely in and near Rancho depending on the neighborhood

We are still waiting for my husbands manager pay to kick in before we know our budget, but I have been looking on craigslist in the price range of $900-$1300. The price range could end up being higher! We are looking to rent buying would be nice but not likely at this time. We have not thought about schooling yet, defintley having a good school would be ideal in the long run. I have found tons of places that fit our price but its the pet situation I have a problem with :/ Thanks for your response

Anatolia is not in the budget.

Likely same for Kavala Ranch, Sunridge Park, and Stonecreek and not much in the way of rentals (they're still building homes in those communities)

Mather, next to Rancho, would be a good choice. It is a quiet, safe, and tidy community (rents will start at the top of your budget). Good elementary school.

Sunriver in northeast Rancho is considered quiet and safe. You could file an inter-district transfer request and have the kids attend the Discovery Center, K-8, part of the San Juan Unified School District in nearby Gold River.

The rest of Rancho will offer plenty of rentals but the neighborhoods will be block by block and schools lag.

Fair Oaks would be a good choice. It's just north of Rancho across the American River. Safe area and decent schools.

Hope this helps to get you started.
