It can feel somewhat muggy and humid anywhere within 15 miles of a coast or delta in California. For example, it has intermittently felt humid this summer here in coastal Orange County. 50-65% humidity some days, in fact.

But the humidity here is nowhere near the scale of what it can be in the South. Especially the deep South and Florida.

Sacramento is going to be 5+ degrees cooler on any given day on average. If it's 96F here, it will be 101 there. But the difference is that the evenings here are much cooler so at least you can have part of the day that is enjoyable.

Right now @ 21:18... Sacramento 79.5F, 97.0F. So that's 17 degrees and no matter how you cut it, its a HUGE difference. 79 is about room temperature Downtown is 84, but still that's 13 degrees.

I'm giving you an image of typical airflow. This was taken 10 min ago. See the direction of the weather stations? Yes it does warm up as it comes in... Starts off as 57F and then rises to the 70s.
This is awesome! I was thinking about this the other day. It would be awesome if you did this on a moderate AND on A STRONG DELTA BREEZE day.

Also, the wind and air movement. I noticed that even during this week of hot weather, Sacramento, every day, had twice, 3 times the wind speed compared to Fresno. Tracking with a map like this one would be great.

And due to variations of weather stations, etc. That's possible.

Everyone in Sacramento, lease don't take your drier air for granted. I will love the cool evenings there right now. Currently, I am suffering 71 degree dew points in Socal!

Okay, today it was humid. But calling this kind of weather "freakishly rare" in Sacramento is an understatement.

At 7:30 tonight the dew point was 66 degrees, the highest I've seen it all spring and summer.

Sacramento - 78 high today.

If it were just 5 degrees warmer, the humidity would have felt uncomfortable, or 10 degrees warmer, a lot more uncomfortable.

Many cities across the nation that are as humid as today but with temps in the 80s or 90's are going to feel as hot as a 100 degree day.

This is because "humid" and "hot" are not the same thing.
