Dear Friends,

I am hoping to move to Sacramento California soon. I would like to know what is the nicest, quiet and safe area to live in? Where can I search for apartment for rent? what is the most reliable and popular rental website?

Thank you in advance !!!
Alice in California

Depends on what you consider nice, quiet and safe. My wife and I have lived in the Southside Park neighborhood of midtown for a little over three years and for us it's very nice, quiet and safe. Aside from the occasional tweaker rummaging around our alley parking lot, we don't get a lot of sketchy people. We forsure don't feel unsafe. We wouldn't hesitate too much to move around the grid except for areas around K St., Cesar Chavez park and Alhambra Blvd. Ideally though it would be awesome if my wife and I found a nice 2-bedroom apartment in Southside Park, Curtis Park, South Land Park, East Sac, and the area near the university but south of the American River. For a more suburban lifestyle, Fair Oaks is nice.

Hi Alice,

Just curious, where will you be working? That info will help in directing you to a part of town that would be conducive to your needs. If working in downtown Sac, a few neighborhoods come to mind. About 5-6 miles south of downtown along the I-5 corridor are the South Land Park, Pocket-Greenhaven neighborhoods. Another consideration would be South Natomas west of I-5 along El Camino Avenue and Gateway Oaks Drive.

A couple of websites I would recommend include:

Apartments.com:
https://www.apartments.com/sacramento-ca/

Nielsen Property Management:
https://www.nielsenproperty.com

ApartmentRatings.com:
