Default Does anyone know anything about Winter CA?

A friend just moved there to care for her aging mother and I am wondering what others know about it.

She says it is near Napa but that is about all I know of it.

You might be thinking of Winters...not exactly "near" Napa, other than being within a couple hours' drive. It's a small valley town.

Actually Winters is less than 10 minutes from Napa county. It's right up against the hills.

It find it a very charming small town, without the all the baggage that comes from Napa county. They just started a Saturday farmers market. Several good restaraunts and friendly locals.

I stand corrected...the coastal range is a mental barrier as much as a physical one, I guess...either that or I'm mixing it up with Williams again...or Willows...or Willits.

There was a "Rednecks" short within one of the Freak Brothers comic books, and Bill Griffith included a submittal from a resident of Winters. The submittal was regarding "veeee-hicular instability" meaning, the inability to drive stable unless having the suspension majorly jacked up and the vehicle (of course a 4X) going well over the speed limit ... LOL!

Naturally this was something from about 25 or more years ago, things have obviously changed a bit since then.

Small town, amongst hills/mountains..very old timey feel to it. I think it's charming, but too "remote" and small of a town for my needs.

Try winter time. Barely cracks 50F most days (lower when there is fog).

Winters is 40 minutes from Napa Valley via Hwy 128/129 and 10 minutes from Davis. It is right off the 505 which connects 80 and 5. You can also drive 10 minutes south and be in Vacaville. If you like fishing, boating or wakeboarding it is very close to Putah Creek and Lake Berryessa.
They have started a nice Farmers Market on the weekends there that makes it worth going to check out sometime.
