My husband took a position off of Industrial Road in Salt Lake City. It is just the 2 of us. Our children are grown. We like to go to bars and also sports bars to watch sports. Can you tell me what area would be best for us to look to move? (apartments - we are not buying)

Thanks so much!!!! I appreciate the feed back!

If you like to go to bars, you'll probably want to stay within Salt Lake City. Since it's only 2 of you and you need to stay under $1,000, I'd stick with Central City (84101, 84102, 84111 ZIPs). You can get a nice apartment near Trolley Square or one between 400 South and South Temple (west of 700 East) for $700-1000, and there are a number of bars within walking distance.

You could also go further west near Industrial Road (that area would be 84104 ZIP code) for even less expensive housing, but the area is more run-down and there are very few bars. It really is a more industrial area, like the street name implies.

If you don't want to be right downtown but want to be between your husband's work and the nightlife scene, the Rose Park area is nice (84116 ZIP). I'd avoid Glendale, which is near Rose Park, but RP itself is fine. There are fewer apartments, you'd be looking at small homes there, but I see rentals there sometimes for around $1,000.

I agree with Zionide. I would stay in the central city area if it's just the two of you, everything would be within walking distance and also there is the TRAX system. You should be able to find something within your price range, even if it's not a big place.
