My husband has been offerered a great opportunity at Cisco in SLC but it starts mid August. Some quick facts. We have a 14 year old mainstreamed asperger boy starting HS who is exceptionally bright and a two year old who will eventually need a great pre k and elementary system. I am a stay at home mom looking for a family community. We are lapsed Catholics so religion scares me but I am an open minded lib . Our budget will be around 1600$ for 4+ and we'd like a big yard, willing to pay a bit more for schools. I think his office is in Sandy so we don't want a huge commute....is commuting even an issue there? neighborhoods that come to mind? I will read these forums extensively but for now am in a panic because I basically have 3 weeks to sign a lease! Any help and advice is appreciated! Thanks in advance.

I thought Cisco was in Cottonwood Heights?

Lots of nice places over there, Fort Union/Cottonwood Heights. I think there is a least one regular poster who lives there, I am sure they will be along soon.

Hi, Zaniiaim. My husband and I have lived in Cottonwood Heights for 30 years and wouldn't live anywhere else in the Salt Lake City area. If you can find a nice place for what you're willing to spend, you couldn't ask for a better area. Other options might be Midvale (near its eastern boundary, where it meets Cottonwood Heights, not the part further west), parts of Sandy (other parts may be too pricey) and parts of Murray or Holladay. Good luck in your search.

Try Sandy, Riverton, and South Jordan.

On a side note, check out the Cathedral as well, it's gorgeous and I know my catholic mom loved it.

The Cathedral of the Madeleine

I am of a similar career as your husband and am considering a move to SLC area with my company in the next 6 mos. All my research on this forum and others so far seems to point to Cottonwood Heights.
