Apparently Mormons are the icky Other for a lot of people.

The arrogance and snobbery is mind blowing.

Hum, thanks for the feed back. Sorry. My dad always said I should count to ten before I open my mouth. Maybe I'll count to one hundred before typing.

Still, there is some good advice in the thread. I would check out West High if I were you, see if your kids can test in.

Good luck.

The Irony is that Utah was a place for Mormons to go to avoid persecution. It seems the persecutors now have to live in Utah.

Haha funny thread the Mormon influence is obviously strong here but for the most part they are all very excepting, nice, gracious people that are easy to get along with. I am non LDS and went to Ogden High out of our whole group I was the only one that wasn't LDS, for the most part I was just treated like everyone else. Utah is a great place to grow up and I loved where I grew up, from a non-LDS while I don't have the same beliefs... Part's of their lifestyles make this place a really good safe area to live and grow up. Just my thoughts...

Yeah Chango....well I'd say that in Utah kids are a "Priority" everywhere you go. "It's all about the children" here more than anywhere else I've been, and that's quite a few places. The term "child free" in Utah is not in their vocabulary no matter where you go. So to say it is hospitable to kids in Utah would be like saying a chocoholic likes chocolate. If raising kids is your thing, look no further from what I've seen. Me on the other hand,..........well I won't go there. I just came back from an entire child-free week up in the Northwest, stayed in child-free bed and breakfast inns on various lakes and rivers and mountains. It was like heaven. NO screaming kids (I think in Utah they must train them to do that) quiet nights on the decks overlooking the bays, nice quiet dinners in nice restaurants and no ear plugs needed to sleep. Now I'm counting the days till we head there again

Honestly, you need to quit hanging out in the far suburbs! I can't remember the last time I heard a screaming or misbehaving child. I go out to eat a lot, too. But I stay in Sugar House and the downtown areas like the Avenues and Foothill.

Utah is a wonderful place; every place has it's problems but overall, I like it here.

I really do need to get to Sugarhouse sometime soon. I hear it's being revitalized considerably. I used to really like it there when I lived in East Millcreek area. Certainly sounds like it would be a significant improvement over the burbs as you say. I really wasn't kidding. If you were to take a person that is prone to panic attacks and place them in say Goodwood, Texas Roadhouse, Olive Garden, IHOP, Red Robin or any other typical chain on a Friday or Saturday night out by us you'd better have the phone handy to dial 911 for an ambulance.....yeah it's THAT bad LOL

We are now at Skyline High and my child is thriving here. When we moved from Park City, we did take into consideration which schools were "better" than others-the beauty of it all is that it does not matter where you live in the valley-you get to pick your school.
We did look at West-good academics but having to have armed security in the school-well, that freaked me out..
Keep in mind though, while Utah spends less per pupil than any other state and the teachers do get a lot done with small funds, in our house, there is a lot of supplementing that occurs. No different then when we lived in PC.
My kid did tell me that he loves it down here, way less snotty kids etc..Just a bigger student body so no "big fish in a small pond" stuff..Glad I am not a teenager any more!
