i think the poster should have asked it this way.. I work in the IT industry as as a (fill in the blank) with # of years experience. How much do you think I could make in SA??

Otherwise it is left open to all levels of experience, and all types of jobs. There is a HUGE amount of diff in how many years experience you have and what area you work in. So....

What area in IT do you work in and how many years of experience do YOU have. THEN maybe we can give you a better answer...

Tech would be considered technology, aka Information Technology.

I'd have to disagree with that,
I guarantee that most engineers would feel insulted if they got called "tech guy" or "technician".
It would be like calling a doctor "nurse"

I'd rather not do things that are illegal (just joking)

True, but the OP wasn't very specific. Also probably too butthurt to come back to this thread anymore.

Ok, I'll give my honest answer. Depending on the company, type of position, experience and education..."tech" jobs pay about $30k up to $90k. How's that?

Notice the OP asked how much per hour. That to me he or she is not referring to the higher level (college degree) jobs in the technology field.

My experiences has been that in general the older people are the more uptight they are about talking about their salary. In my opinion I don't think keeping it a secret benefits anyone (except your employer), if you or the people you're talking to can't deal with the idea that someone makes more than them, even for the same position, that's really childish. It just gives more power to your employer when employees keep that information off the table and won't confer amongst themselves to make sure there's not anything obviously unfair going on. In the same vein, I'd sure like to know if I could make 5-10k more doing the same job somewhere else.
Also, in military communities people are very open about what they make because it is public record. We all know what each other makes.

I'm a GS-13 Step 1. I do Computer Security investigations, inspections, Certification & Accreditation, and training for an oversight/regulatory branch of the Department of Defense.

Including locality pay, I make almost 82k.

If you want more details then that, please DM me.

Since I'm a civil servant, I could care less if people know what I make.
